Spirit

The world is my castle
It’s paths are my home
I wander their reaches
I’m never alone
The sky is my answer
The moon is my guide
My friends are the breezes
That brush at my side
My family the trees
That watch from on high
And the saplings that skitter
When I pass them by
No need for the humans
Have I in my heart
They want not my words
We belong far apart
So I’ll wander the reaches
The vastness of earth
Avoiding the cities
Ignoring each birth
‘till the people too many
Have cut all the trees
And my tears have been scattered
On each little breeze
Then I’ll wander the paths
No longer my home
Of steel and asphalt
Now that I’m alone
